Food Shopping
Weekly Markets:
Brantôme: Friday
Riberac: Friday
Villebois Lavalette: Saturday
Aubeterre-Sur-Dronne: Sunday
Markets are usually open in the morning and will start thinning out at around noon, sometimes later. Riberac (pictured) is one of the largest markets in the region. Villebois Lavalette is the nearest market, and one of the smallest, but most charming.
Boulangeries:
If you're the type to want to get your baguette or croissants fresh in the morning, the nearest boulangeries are in Villebois Lavalette (there are two), Chervale, and Salle-Lavalette. All are an approximate 10-minute drive away.
Small Grocery Shops:
A new shop called Babette et Bruno has just opened in Champagne. While it is not a boulangerie, it sells very good bread and would be the closest option for a morning baguette-run. Opening hours are 9H-12H30, 16H-19H. Sundays it is only open in the mornings and it is closed all day on Tuesday.
Supermarkets:
Most visitors like to do a big supermarket shop when they arrive. Super-U in Villebois Lavalette is the nearest supermarket. It is very big, and stocks pretty much everything you'll need.
If you want a smaller, general shop, Merlauds in Verteillac is well stocked with food and household provisions.
