There are various ways to get to Chez Mathieu, depending on where you are arriving from.

 

Plane:

If you are arriving from the UK, the nearest airports to fly to are Limoges, Poitiers, Bordeaux, and Bergerac. From these airports, you will have to hire a car (though from Limoges you could take a train), and it is an approximate 2-hour drive.

If you are flying from outside of Europe and can only fly to a bigger airport, you can opt for Paris or Bordeaux, and get the train to Angoulême. See details on the train below.

Train

Angoulême is the nearest train station. Trains go to Angoulême from Paris (2 hours), Bordeaux (50 minutes), and Limoges (1 hour 14 minutes). There is no public transportation from the train station to Chez Mathieu, so you will have to hire a car.

Car: 

If you are in a car it is likely that you are going to be coming from Angoulême. There are numerous car rentals at Angoulême. Keep in mind that most car rentals are closed on Sundays. Get in touch for exact directions by car.
