Chez Mathieu for Kids
Chez Mathieu is suitable for kids, and has hosted babies to teenagers! Here are some suggestions of what to do for varying ages.
Babies:
Please note that we don't have any baby items such as cots or highchairs, as we've always managed fine without. So if you prefer your baby to sleep in a cot, it's best to bring a travel cot with you. Also, if you are with a baby that crawls or walks, please be aware that there is a steep flight of stairs and no baby gate.
There are plenty of shady spots on the grounds for a baby to lie on its back and look up at the trees, or to crawl around safely. A good, safe area is down below the terrace, by the washing-line. There is a paddling-pool in the garage which is great to cool babies off if they are too small to go in the pool.
Toddlers and Pre-schoolers:
One of the endless activities for a toddler or pre-schooler to do is explore the nature in the grounds! They usually love to collect fruit, and serve it for dessert, and to search for insects and lizards.
The pool is the other obvious main attraction. There are usually some blow-up pool toys in the garage.
There are some paints and paper on the bookshelf in the living room, and a toybox on the landing upstairs, and children's books in the bedroom facing the courtyard.
The region is very child-friendly, and children are often out late, attending all of the events and festivities that happen in the summertime.
School-Age:
A holiday without constant internet could be a welcome break for school-age kids and a chance to make up all kinds of adventures!
This age -range might want to spend most of the time in the pool, though there are lots of sites to see in the nearby area that would captivate school-age kids; some suggestions can be found on the trips and activities section. More locally, going on evening walks up to Vendoire can be fun for school-age children, or for a bike ride. Please contact us if you are interested in hiring bikes.
